Westside Warung

Warung are the life-blood of Indonesia. They're generally inexpensive and authentic in flavour and menu.

Begin your journey at Jalan Tirtanadi and keep going!

Rumah Makan Padang Simpang Ampek

Situated right on the Bypass, this warung serves up a great variety of masakan padang.

There are two indoor areas, one of which is air conditioned.

Warung Flamingo Sanur

This is a quaint little warung which has a good menu, but the best way to experience the breadth of their food is to get onto their WhatsApp list and have a fresh menu sent to you each week.

They deliver twice a day Monday to Friday. The meals are very generous and full of flavour.

Didi's Restaurant

Another great little warung which is well worthing hunting down.

The coffee is very good and the menu has a good variety.

The service is friendly. The venue is open but under cover.

Warung Rama Sita

Excellent duck and chicken. And murah!

Warung Makan SMS

This truly is another Westside gem. The Rendang is very good, as are most of the other dishes.

The venue is open, with a friendly atmosphere and great staff.

There is also a cooking school attached where you can develop your cooking skills in a fun-filled manner.

MD Warung Indian Food

This is a true Westside favourite for a good curry.

Good price and great flavours.

The venue is open. Service is generally prompt.

Warung Krishna

Fantastic nasi campur - tasty and inexpensive.

Warung JJs

A relative new comer in 2026. Serving up very cheap, cold beer and some great tapas style food.

There's a games afternoon on Fridays.

Warung Kumpy

Warung Kumpy has become a favourite among many of the expats living on the West Side.

The food is freshly cooked and the service is friendly.

English is not widely spoken, so take your Google Translate.
A good selection of cold drinks, including beer.

The venue is not enclosed.

(If Kumpy is closed, head further along the road to Ibu Boni.)

Warung Ibu Boni

... or sometimes "Bu Bonny".

This is a very small warung. There is only enough seating at the front for about 4 people and a table for about 6 inside.

The food that Ibu serves up is delicious and the beer is kept cold.

Give the Ayam Kaloke a go -its delcious, with a wonderful homemade sauce.

It's easy to miss, so keep your eyes peeled.

Dapur Mamiku Sanur

This is a great little warung. The food is very delicious - I recommend trying the Indonesian menu rather than the Western.

The venue is open and is one of the most popular amongst the expats in the area. There have been recent refurbishments (2026).

The coffee is very good and they serve beer.

Warung Banyuwangi Bu Doni

Here is another terrific little warung to look out for.

The food is quite varied and is popular with both locals and bule. The price is very good.

There is one indoor area with adequate seating and tables. There is no beer served here. This is a great way to experience authentic food.

.
The service is friendly, but little English is spoken.

Sunari Garden Restaurant

A great range of traditional food in a most wonderful garden setting.

There is also an indoor, air-conditioned room.
